APEX CARE | Home Care for the Elderly
This refers to care which is provided in your home and is usually suited to those
individuals with a less acute need. It may involve short term visits during a period convalescence. In general terms, the care is targeted to provide help with a specific task, for example getting up in the morning or bathing.
There may be many reasons why you are looking at care options. You may be looking for yourself or on behalf of a friend or relative, because a little support is needed with those tasks that are becoming more difficult, or because of restricted mobility through illness or an accident. It may be that your needs aren’t just for personal care, you may need a companion and a housekeeper too. Your needs may be short term, convalescent, respite or holiday care for example, or more longer term.
Palliative and terminal care
This is active, compassionate care of the chronically and terminally ill, directed towards improving the quality of life. Palliative care particularly focuses on the control of pain and symptoms. These specialist approaches include the individual, the family, carers and friends, and extend to bereavement and grief.
At Apex Care, we have a team of carers dedicated to providing palliative care.
We feel that older people are often denied a dignified death. Instead they experience various movements between sites as their health deteriates.
Apex Care provides older persons who are terminally ill the opportunity to live their final days in their own homes surrounded by people and their belongings that they love the most.
Our palliative care team are considerate, discreet, understanding and carefully chosen to meet client’s particular needs and preferences. They provide a continuous source of expertise for both the client and visiting health professionals. Where time permits they can also see to any housekeeping duties that clients may require.
Dementia care
The most common mental infirmities in older people are dementia-related conditions, such as Alzheimer's Disease. Depending on the level of dementia, care is still available in the persons own home.
