What we Hope to Achieve
The purpose of the support service is to support people to develop their skills and independence in the following areas:
- Developing domestic skills
- Help in setting up home or tenancy
- Advice advocacy and liaison
- Enabling the service users to develop and maintain a budget and manage their finances
- Advice, counselling and emotional support
- Help to gain access to other services
- Help in establishing social contacts and other activities
- Supervision and monitoring of health & well being
- Peer support and befriending
- Help to find other accommodation
- Help maintaining safety and security of the dwelling
- Cleaning of own rooms
- Advice and support on repair/home improvement
- Enable service users to plan and do their shopping
- Liaison and advocacy support from the same ethnic group
- Cultural specific counselling and emotional support
- Access to local community organisations
Support specific to the individual will be identified through the support needs assessment, and support planning process and outcomes for each individual are reviewed on an annual basis.
Service users will be encouraged and supported to move on if they wish and aspire to do so and support plans will reflect this. We would support service users to access and support applications to other agencies. Where necessary support would be provided during the resettlement period to ensure the move was both a success and the accommodation was sustained.
